We've had a very busy few days here at Le Hazay Cottage getting ready for this season's first guests - and it hasn't been without a few hiccups along the way.
Despite our pool being crystal clear for several months, a heatwave a few weeks before the big move caused the temperature to spike to 53C and a lovely shade of green developing across the water. We've managed to shock the water back to transparent and are enjoying the sounds of our guests taking the plunge into the water.
Similarly, we are learning how best to balance the use of our electronics both in our house and in the cottage as we share a circuit. Several attempts at calling EDF and an emergency call-out later we're getting there.
Having said all that it is nice to be able to put our finishing touches to the guest experience - deciding which candles, wine and cheese to include in the welcome basket has been a highlight. Then later, sitting out on the swing chair with a good magazine and eating a hearty home-cooked chorizo.
We are learning, and learning quickly, but are looking forward to a fantastic summer ahead.
I'm busy working on my blog posts. Watch this space!
