Hydrangea Cuttings
The hydrangea cuttings I took from around the garden are growing steadily much to my delight. I took about 30 cuttings, I am hoping that around 50% or more will make it through the winter, producing some gorgeous hydrangeas at a fraction of the price.
I'm over wintering them in the poly-tunnel, so far so good. There have been a couple of deep frosts already in early January and quite a bit of Brittany rain, but the tunnel is providing a good source of protection.
Coffee grounds add extra acidity to the soil around hydrangeas, which can result in pretty clusters of blue flowers, I look forward to trying this out with my left over coffee grounds. Also bananas are a good supplement for growing hydrangeas, the potassium helps to promote vigorous growth and flowering. My daily banana skin can also be put to good use.
